Fractions are all around us! This four-week unit will expose students to the numerous ways in which fractions affect our everyday lives. These fourth graders will learn to identify fractions, define the parts of a fractions, model fractions using pictures & models, convert fractions into decimal numbers, and add fractions with like and unlike denominators. Additional picture books related to fractions will be used as well as various writing activities to reinforce the fraction concepts. Students will practice persuasive writing by convincing their peers of the importance of fracions.
